Rebuild Collective was founded by De Peter Yi, a licensed architect, designer, and educator. He is a first-generation immigrant to the United States, where his experiences moving between and growing up in diverse communities and housing across the country continue to inspire and inform his work. Before founding Rebuild Collective, he co-founded and co-led 1+1+ Architects in Detroit, and designed housing, museum, and adaptive reuse projects with Studio Gang Architects in Chicago. He is an Assistant Professor in Architecture at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), where he is also a co-coordinator for the Simpson Center for Urban Futures. Previously he taught at the University of Michigan, where he was the 2018-2019 Walter Sanders Fellow.
